Extended Disability Income

What Is It?

An income benefit which will  pay a monthly income if the life insured isoccupationally disabled or impaired and covers events where the impairment is total and partial. Payment will start after the deferred period once the life insured meets the criteria of a claim event for the payment period.

Up to R100 000

Exclusions

Self-inflicted injuries.

Who Can Apply?

Ages 19 up to 60 at next birthday

When Can You Claim?

Once Hollard Life receives proof that the life insured has been continually incapacitated, totally or partially for the duration of the deferred period.

Deferred Income

24 months.

Important Points
  • Hollard Life will pay for a driver if it enables the life insured to perform his/her occupation as per the criteria set out by Hollard.
  • If the life insured is self-employed,
  • Hollard Life may at its discretion pay the salary of any person performing the life insureds duties in his or her absence.
  • The income benefit can be commuted to a lump sum at the sole discretion of Hollard Life.
  • The premiums will be waived once the claim has been admitted.
  • A once-off payment will be paid when the life insured dies, equivalent to the benefit amount, if in claim.
  • There is a guaranteed insurability benefit which allows the policyholder to increase the benefit amount on the policy anniversary, subject to certain criteria.

Must Let Hollard Know
  • If there is a change in occupation.
    If the life insured is engaged in more than one occupation.
  • If the occupational duty split changes.
  • Must have been gainfully employed for no less than 6 months before becoming disabled.
